On the January 12th assembly, the Neighborhood Redevelopment Company (CRA) Board will vote on approving infrastructure priorities as recognized by the Downtown Redevelopment Fee (DRC).

The CRA vote to fund the enhancements can be taken up on the January 28th assembly.

The proposed infrastructure tasks are estimated to price a complete of $1.1 million. If these tasks are accepted by the CRA Board, the funding will come from the Fiscal Yr 2021 Grasp and Reserve Funds.

The bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are estimated to price a complete of $472,000, and there are three completely different tasks. The primary is extending the sidewalk alongside the east facet of MLK Jr. Blvd. between Bloxham St. and Blount St.

The second mission is changing the 68 wood benches in the Downtown District with black, metallic benches. This mission goals to set up longer-lasting benches that require much less upkeep. The wood swing bench on the southeast intersection of Adams St. and Faculty Ave. is not going to get replaced, and this mission is estimated to price $87,000.

The third enchancment mission is to substitute the sunshine fixtures alongside the Chain of Parks on East Park Ave. between Gadsden St. and Bronough St. The lights are at the moment Acorn fixtures, and each the poles and the fixtures would require substitute to meet the Metropolis’s objective of transferring away from the Acorn design. The mission is estimated to price $260,000.

The 2 potential parking enhancement tasks are estimated to price a complete of $655,000. The tasks are bettering the Kleman Plaza parking storage and plaza and the 650 West Gaines St. parking zone. Bettering Kleman Plaza and the parking storage is estimated at $185,000 and bettering the Gaines St parking zone is estimated to price $470,000.

The CRA government director has accepted $35,000 in funding to be used on 4 smaller infrastructure tasks. The approval of this stuff can be reported to the CRA Board at its Jan. 28 assembly.

The primary smaller infrastructure mission is to add a crosswalk on Bronough St. on the north facet of the intersection with Jefferson St. That is estimated to price $10,000. The second mission is to create an ADA pedestrian route map for the Downtown District, which is estimated to price $10,000. The third mission is to reset the uneven pavers on the crosswalk on the southeast nook of the intersection of Bronough St. and Faculty Ave., and it’s estimated to price $8,000. The fourth mission is to set up a concrete pad with pavers on the northeast nook of Monroe St. and Faculty Ave. That is estimated to price $7,500.
