Alzie Davis Bostic, 92, of Palm Coast (formerly East Palatka), entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at the Bridgeview Center, Ormond Beach. She was born in Oconee, GA on Thursday, September 4, 1930 to Evelyn (Wiggins) Davis and Sammie Davis, Sr. She was the third of nine children. The Davis family moved to Central Florida in Alzie’s early childhood. She was raised in Mt. Dora, where she attended public schools. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and was an active member of Payne Chapel and subsequently, Bethel AME. After graduation, Alzie attended Florida A&M University (FAMU), Tallahassee where she met Isaac H. Bostic. Subsequently, they married and moved to East Palatka. This union produced one child, Isaac, Jr. After graduating from FAMU, both Isaac, Sr. and Alzie taught in the Putnam County School system for over 40 years. Alzie returned to FAMU to obtain her Masters of Education degree. After retiring, Isaac and Alzie relocated to Palm Coast.
She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Zeta Mu Zeta Chapter) and was recognized for 50 years of membership in May 2023. Alzie campaigned for civil rights, many political and charitable causes, and was very active in the Florida Teachers Union.
Alzie enjoyed watching FAMU’s football team and marching band. She also loved baking, traveling, genealogy, and basketball. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, and love of family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Isaac H. Bostic Sr.; son, Isaac H. Bostic, Jr; siblings, Beatrice, Lee Alice, Sammie Jr., Albert, Bertha, and Barbara.
To cherish her memories: 2 grandsons, Jerod D. Bostic, Houston, TX; Isaac H. Bostic III, Tampa; sisters, Kizzie Barksdale, Palm Coast; Evelyn Andrews, Mt. Dora; nephews, Christopher Bostic, Cory Daniels, East Palatka; and a host of other relatives, colleagues, and friends.
Public Visitation: 9-11 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, with a Celebration of Life commencing at 11 a.m., Flagg’s Chapel of Serenity. Online condolences: www.flaggserenitychapel.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel.
