Aylene Hickman Christensen, age 94, passed away early May 11, 2022, at her home. She was born on August 9, 1927, in Benjamin, Utah, and was the fifth child of Charles Arlynn and Delta Larsen Hickman.

Aylene was raised in Benjamin, Utah, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School where she was a cheerleader. Later in life, she cheered on her children and grandchildren through challenges and successes in their lives. She attended Brigham Young University and worked as a nurse for Utah County doctors–Dr. Moody and Dr. Frampton–and for IHC.

She married Lynn Reece Christensen on October 15, 1946. He was her sweetheart and confidante. Lynn and Aylene lived in Salem, UT. They raised four children and enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Lynn died in July 2011 and Aylene missed him immensely, often saying how she wished she could join him. They are finally together again. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Lord, had a testimony of Jesus Christ and was a brilliant scriptural scholar. She taught Gospel Doctrine Sunday School for many years. She and Lynn served two full-time missions, one to the Orlando, FL Temple and the other at the Provo Mission Training Center. They especially enjoyed serving together many years as ordinance workers at the Provo Temple.

Aylene was a dynamic and active woman who was loved and appreciated by all who knew her. Her smile was contagious. She was a fantastic storyteller, delighting her grandchildren, and local school children, with marvelous stories and a creative imagination. Some stories were illustrated by her grandchildren. They loved Grandma Chris. Aylene also had a green thumb and kept a meticulous yard at her Salem home. She personally mowed her half-acre lawn, twice a week with a push mower, and cared for a large, beautiful flower garden until she moved to Park City at age 88. In her 90s, she continued to work in the yard, often joining the condo lawncare crew mowing the small patch of lawn in front of her home. Another loving trait was her penchant for cats, especially stray felines, and particularly “Coocoo” and “Mama Kitty.”

Aylene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was very supportive of her family. She believed her greatest treasure was her family, and her family already greatly misses her. She is survived by her children Delta Lyn Stacey (Dennis) of Novelty, OH; Casey (Margie) of Tallahassee, FL; Vern (Vickie) of Salt Lake City, UT; and Loralyn (aka, Lolli) of Park City, UT; as well as 20 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren. Aylene was grateful for each one of them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Christensen, her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 60 S. Main St. in Salem, Utah. A viewing will also be held on Thursday, May 19, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 187 S Main St., in Spanish Fork, Utah. The Burial will be in the Salem City Cemetery following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you take a grandparent, parent, sibling, child, grandchild or friend out to lunch and tell them how much they mean to you.

Condolences and remembrances of Aylene may be sent to the family at www.walkermemorials.com
