Rescuers in a remote area of the Atlantic Ocean raced against time early Tuesday to find a missing submersible carrying five people on a mission to document the wreckage of the Titanic.

The carbon-fiber submersible named the Titan, part of a mission by OceanGate Expeditions, carried a pilot, a renowned British adventurer, two members of an iconic Pakistani business family and a Titanic expert. Authorities reported the vessel overdue Sunday night about 435 miles (700 kilometers) south of St. Johnโ€™s, Newfoundland, according to Canada’s Joint Rescue Coordination Center.

Every passing minute, however, puts the Titan’s crew at greater risk. The submersible had a 96-hour oxygen supply when it put to sea at roughly 6 a.m. Sunday, according to David Concannon, an adviser to OceanGate.

  1. Can you imagine that nun of this would be happening if people wouldnโ€™t proceed to do dumb shit anyways right after hearing the risk that could potentially happen ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

  2. Many companies use lots of money to support the space travel , but they donโ€™t spend anything to develop machines to discover their oceans, thatโ€™s a shame we know about mars more than we know about our oceans.

  3. My condolences to the friends and family of the crew of the missing sub.

Iโ€™m confused as to why the efforts to assist in the rescue did not take place during the first eight hours rather than the last (24-36 hours)?

    Why so late?
