The fight between the state of Florida and the Walt Disney Company over the status of the Reedy Creek Improvement District is intensifying, following a new announcement from the governor.

  1. Disney should lleave Florida; it's a big government, regulatory state, nationalizing companies it's leaders disagree with politically; if they don't leave they will be taken over and forced to support policies the rest of the nation will boycott them for. If Disney wants to stay in business, LEAVE FLORIDA. There are plenty of blue states that won't nationalize them…

  2. the bible should be on every shelf in the school library including grade school so children can read about Lot and his 2 daughters. Gen 19:31–33 “Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of all the world. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, so that we may preserve offspring through our father.” insist is OK.

  3. It is good to know the state has a plan to prevent the two affected counties from having to take on Disney's liabilities and, I assume Disney's day to day expenses (roads, trash, fire).

As much as I am a huge fan of Governor Ron DeSantis, I believe this is a move that will bite the entire state of Florida in the ass and the wallet for decades. I believe it will be a mistake to pursue this. I believe that, long-term, it will stifle innovation at Disney and people will get tired and bored of the same old thing and, eventually Disney will not generate as many tourism dollars or as many tourists.

Disney tourists spend money at airports, gas stations, restaurants, rental cars, retail stores, and hotels all over Florida before and after they spend their money at Disney. If, for example, 100,000 fewer car trips are made to Disney from out of state, how much revenue will gas stations lose and how much less tax revenue will the state take in just from petrol stations?? I don't know the numbers, but I guarantee you it is NOT a small, insignificant amount.

Also, construction of new attractions at Disney as well as daily maintenance depend upon construction companies and building materials from all over Florida. If Disney stops innovating and building new stuff, their spending on materials will shrink, as will the thousands of construction jobs they offer. This will decrease revenue at those supplier businesses and put good construction workers out of business, too.

Right now, Reedy Creek is exempt from outside municipal building inspectors and codes enforcement. They do their own — with standards that are likely higher than anywhere else in Florida. I guarantee that as soon as one of those government fuckers show up and starts making a fuss, Disney will simply stop building new stuff.

  4. Just stupid, they basically tricked DeSantis into a divorce and the idiot fell for it. Either the state is on the hook for the debt, or Disney keeps their government. Its not a eat ur cake and have it still situation. All the idiots on here that think Disney is getting punished here are just laughable. Disney has long outgrown its home, all the land connected to Disney either won't sell or won't sell for a realistic price because the people who own that land think they can strong arm Disney into massively overpaying for their swampland, which is why many had bought the connectinglands to begin with. DeSantis just gave them their walking papers by striping away the marriage contract. Disney has already been looking for other locations for some time now. Idiots are bitting the hand that feeds them. If and when Disney leaves the only thing it will leave behind will be the debt, which u will be on the hook for being the Government was the trade on the contract. They are tied in binding lawful contracts. DeSantis actions broke said contracts when he tried to illegally change the terms. He nolafied the contract leaving you on the hook. Now if they choose to stay they will either have to follow ur laws and terms but they will be swimming in ur money from the lawsuits he's opened you too. But im betting they will up and move elsewhere using ur money from the lawsuits to pay for their move and leaving you on the hook for that current debt aswell. Once they move on, everything around the area will begin closing up for good or moving on themselves. It will start a massive chain reaction. The ripples will be more like tidal waves.

  5. lolll SO taxes WILL go up for local residents? Funny how the truth comes out now soaked with spin 🤡 Just leave the mouse district alone and focus on your constituents 👌

  6. Disney promotes sexual content to our children. They think it's perfectly fine for a 6-year-old have sexual reorientation surgeries and be on hormone blockers. They think it's fine to promote critical race theory that makes little white children hate themselves. Disney can go somewhere else and leave Florida to hell would be a good location I'm for that

  7. DeSantis vs Disney Lawyers….my money is on Disney Lawyers considering they have had plans to deal with any take over of Disney World since before Disney World was even made. That is 50 years of legal preparation. The only reason why they didn't crush this sooner was the idea that once the election was pass and everyone raised their money off it they could sit down and hammer out an agreement, now Disney will send in the sharks.

  8. It's a dumb move. He's improving his chances to win the Republican primary, but damaging his chances for the national election afterwards. He needs independent voters to win the Presidency — and this behavior looks petty and pathetic to those voters. He already won, the bill passed. But this just looks like a revenge play.

  9. HOW is this small government and conservatism? Disney running itself is a conservative anarcho capitalist small government wet dream but when it actually comes into practice it’s only okay if their free speech supports what conservatives support? How is that conservatism and not fascism?

  10. I think I speak for many when I say
    HA ha.
A small victory for vulnerable children, who hopefully wont be "modified" now to be more attracted and attractive to adults.
