BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball team picked up a victory on the first day of the NWF Classic in Niceville.

The 20th-ranked Titans defeated Tallahassee Community College 83-68 Friday night to improve to 11-1 on the season. Eastern Florida State College got off to a fast start with a 16-0 run in the first seven minutes of the contest to lead 18-3.

Owen Aquino paced the run with some big baskets and the Titans would keep the lead throughout the first half.

Early in the second half, they would extend the lead to 20 points.

With just under 12 minutes left, Tallahassee went on a 6-0 run but Matus Malovec made a basket and was fouled. He would convert the three-point play and help the Titans get the lead back to 20 points.

Tallahassee would make a couple of shots in the final two minutes to cut it to a 15-point game.

Four Titans scored at least 10 points in the contest led by Luca Colceag who had 16.

Teammates Afan Trnka and Matija Zuzic each had 11 points. Aquino finished with a double-double, his third of the season as the sophomore had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Eastern Florida State College will play No. 5 Northwest Florida State College on Saturday in Niceville.
