The business that served as a cross between a bakery and drive-thru convenience store has abruptly closed its Bannerman Road location after roughly five months of operation.
Call it deja-moo, which is hitting patrons of Farm Stores, who followed the store from its 952 W. Tharpe St. location that closed in early 2023, to its relocation to 1572 Bannerman Road in August.
As of Tuesday, no official updates or comments have been made from Farm Stores’ representatives in regard to its stand-alone Tallahassee location closure.
Facebook users reacted to the news of the closure of the last remaining store in Tallahassee, with one commenter sharing, “Wish one of the locations was close to me, I would have been going all the time! Too far out.”
Five Farm Stores had been slated to open in Tallahassee
The Miami-based chain, widely known for its bright red lettered sign with a cow underneath, was founded in 1957. The store aimed to expand its footprint from the Miami and Tampa Bay areas to the Panhandle, with five locations originally slated to open in the capital city.
This expansion included plans to open in the Bradfordville, Southwood and Perkins communities.
The Bannerman Road location was a promising fresh start for Farm Stores in the Tallahassee area, with offerings of ready-made snack items made conveniently available for guests.
Customers could order their items on site or through the Farm Stores app, making it a quick-stop grocery go-to. The franchise reached a high, doubling its sales, especially when the curbside delivery model was in great demand at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company still has over 50 operating locations spread mainly along the Southeast.
