(Tallahassee, FL) — The Florida Supreme Court has ruled that Florida police officers and other crime victims can’t hide their identity behind Marsy’s Law. The ruling stemmed from incidents in Tallahassee, Florida, when officers fatally shot suspects. Reporters wanted the names of the officers involved, but police said their names should be exempt because they were assaulted by the people they shot, which made them victims. The court ruled that Marsy’s Law, which gives more rights to victims of crimes, doesn’t give a victim the “categorical” right to withhold their name.
