Security Barriers Protect The State Capital Building in Tallahassee Florida

The city of Tallahassee makes the top 10 on a recently published Forbes list that ranks the “best places to live in Florida in 2022,” putting the state’s capital in ninth place.

Following Tallahassee in the list is Pensacola in tenth place. 

Comparisons made within the study come from data such as population, unemployment and personal income statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau as well as median home prices from Realtor.com and the cost of living for families of four from the Economic Policy Institute. 

Here are some of the lifestyle factors that were considered when comparing the Florida cities, along with the numbers of where Tallahassee stands in the categories: 

  • Population: 197,102 
  • Median home price: $312,500 
  • Estimated monthly expenses: $6,522
  • Median income: $46,461 
  • Unemployment rate: 2.9% 
  • Community wellness score: 54/100 
  • Criminal offenses reported: 7,302
