FSU and FAMU baseball teams move Saturday's games

Inclement weather has altered Saturday’s sports scene at Florida State and Florida A&M.

After two adjustments due to rain, FSU’s home baseball game against Butler was postponed.

Details for Sunday is scheduled to be announced by the school later Saturday.

The Seminoles beat Butler 11-0 in Friday’s season-opener for both teams.

FSU right-hander Cam Leiter struck out 13 batters in his debut and led the pitching staff to 22 strikeouts, while James Tibbs III blasted his second career grand slam.

FAMU’s home baseball game against Eastern Illinois was initially rescheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday. It was moved to 6 p.m. and also postponed.

The Rattlers beat Eastern Illinois 6-5 in Friday’s season-opener for both teams.

Senior right-hander Caleb Granger, a former standout at North Florida Christian, threw six shutout innings to earn the win.

He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out four.

FSU’s softball game Saturday morning against Georgia in Clearwater was in a rain delay in the fifth inning.

When play resumed, the Bulldogs thumped the Seminoles 20-10 in five innings.

FSU (5-3) ends the three-day tourney Sunday against No. 2 Tennessee at 8 p.m. on ESPN.

After opening with a 4-0 win over Stanford Thursday, the Seminoles have suffered consecutive defeats to No. 20 UCLA (14-10) and Georgia.

FAMU softball (0-7) was scheduled to play two games Saturday in Alabama against Gardner-Webb and Troy in the Tory University Tournament.

The Rattlers dropped games to Troy (11-3) Thursday and Indiana (8-0) Friday. They are scheduled to play Indiana Sunday to end the four-day tourney.
