Players to Watch: FSU: G Ta’Niya Latson  scored 34 points at Kent State  Thursday, the most points by an FSU freshman in a game since program all-time leader Sue Galkantas had 34 as a freshman vs. Florida A&M on Jan. 14, 1981. Galkantas holds the freshman single-game scoring record at Florida State, recording 37 points vs. Florida on Dec. 3, 1980. GS: G Tehya Lyons scored 12 points as the Panthers fell 60-42 to Georgia Tech in their season opener Thursday. 

Three-pointers: FSU looks to start the season 3-0 for the fifth time in the last six years  …  The Seminoles turned in a dominant fourth-quarter effort on defense in their 80-71 win at Kent State on Thursday night. .. FSU held the Golden Flashes to just 3-of-14 shooting (14.3 percent) in the quarter and Kent State went scoreless on its first 11 possessions … The Seminoles have four players averaging double figures through the first two games: Latson (31.0), Taylor O’Brien (15.0), Makayla Timpson (14.0) and Sara Bejedi (13.0). … FSU is 4-1 all-time against Georgia State, last meeting in Tallahassee on Dec. 29, 2018, in a 79-43 win for the Seminoles. FSU All-American and current Marist women’s basketball assistant Coach Kiah Gillespie delivered 25 points and 12 rebounds in that win.
