Three-pointers: The Seminoles are off to their best start to a season since the 2019-20 season, when they won their first 10 games. They started that season 13-0 before losing their first game of the season. … FSU has started 9-1 eight times. … Freshman sensation Ta’Niya Latson has been dominant in the early stages of her career, becoming the first Seminole ever to win ACC Rookie of the Week four times in a season. She leads all freshmen in the nation with 24.5 points per game and 3.5 win shares. … Makayla Timpson has recorded four straight games with double-doubles game, becoming the first Seminole since Natasha Howard in the 2013-14 season. Cherry Rivers, who had six straight in the 1978-79 season, owns the program record.
Why FSU should win: The Tigers enter Sunday’s contest as losers of the first seven games of their season. They have allowed over 100 points twice and 90 points three times early in the season. The Seminoles’ high-power offense should be able to take care of business. FSU is averaging 85.5 points per game, which is seventh in the nation. … Sunday’s matchup will be the first in series history between Texas Southern and Florida State.
