  1. I grew up in North Port from 1970 to 1984. The old parts of North Port on the south side have never been properly drained. We would have just a regular day long rain storm and the streets flooded halfway up the yard and didn't drain for 12 hours. It's no wonder this storm flooded the place. All the place does is fill with water when it rains. giant 'drainage' ditches behind the houses just fill up with water and overflow into the street and halfway up the yard. There was nothing but orange groves in the main part of Old North Port where Biscayne splits 41 south of Warm Mineral Springs. It's probably a bit better over by the Catholic Church where Winn Dixie used to be and the Presbyterian Church we grew up in, but I've not been back to North Port in…20 years or so.

  2. My daughter and her family need an immediate evacuation as the water continues to rise in their house. 6842 Abelson Avenue N between Ponce De Leon and Tropicaire Blvd. Please help if you can. My youngest 4 year old granddaughter suffers from seizures. Everyone I have contacted just says they are on the list for evacuation but no help while the water continues to rise. Help!
