Hyundai Motor Company and the Kia Corporation are rolling out a software upgrade the companies say will slow a recent increase in car thefts. The announcement came in a response to a local lawmaker’s call for action.

  1. Being on the technical side of these newer cars I have no idea how this software is doing anything. In my opinion have a hidden kill switch installed and or have a way to disable the car that isn’t obvious.

  2. This recall may well be a scam. We have people on Hyundai Forums who had the recall done at the Hyundai dealership who also put stickers on windows. Weeks later their car GETS STOLEN and recovered with the steering column broken. WHY ? It may be that Hyundai does not install an immobilizer or update the keys with chips. Don't know what the recall is actually but if you don't get a new set of keys/fob it means you don't get an immobilizer so your car will still get stolen

  3. My car was broken into on the 16th of January with a attempt to be stolen. Had to get the ignition and my back window fixed. Got my car back from the shop 2 weeks ago just for it to get stolen

  4. require owners to set a security code and/or a fingerprint to start their vehicle. Even if owners get the fix, the fix is out that these cars are easy, next thing you know owners' cars are broken into. So you can't just turn it without a key. ?? What does that mean?
