One cleaning whizz, however, has found the perfect way to get her carpets looking like new and it costs less than 20p (yes, you read that right).

After winter, our carpets can often look a little lacklustre with muddy shoes, outdoor debris and even extra moisture making them grubby.
Before you hire an expensive carpet cleaner though, you might want to watch this video which shows how to get them looking new for less.
Like all good life hacks, this was first shared on Tiktok by influencer and all-round domestic goddess @home_motivationn.
Rather than hiring a Rug Doctor, the thrifty cleaner uses a surprising household item to give her home a refresh: laundry capsules.
The viral video even showed her breaking up the detergent with a little hot water, before dipping a clean microfiber towel into it.
She then squeezed out any excess moisture before wrapping the damp cloth around a saucepan lid and rubbing it against her carpet.
Not did this help to remove any dirt and debris that has built up over the winter, this clever hack will left behind a stunning scent – and has a customizable scent depending on what detergent you use.
You can even use it in the winter, as this method doesn’t get carpets overly wet – meaning you won’t have to wait long for it to dry.
In the comments, the influencer explained: “It just gets a little moist…it dries after about 10-15 minutes.”
It’s not only reason why we are obsessed with this nifty tip though, as it costs just a fraction of conventional carpet cleaning products.
Though you might be tempted to invest in a carpet cleaner for your home, the household gadget can cost anywhere from £70 to £180 for an upright model.
Even hiring a carpet cleaner won’t reduce the cost much, as most rentals begin at £25 and won’t include the detergents you need to get the job done.
However, this clever cleaning hack costs considerably less with Sainsbury’s currently selling 24 tropical scented detergent capsules for just £3.95.
For those that haven’t done the maths, that is just 16p per use to have a clean and incredible smelling home.
Unsurprisingly, the content creator’s video has gone viral with over 26 million views to date and fans in the comments loving the genius cleaning tip.
“This works so well. My daughter got brow paste all rubbed in. I tried everything until I used a washing pod and hot water…came straight out,” shared one impressed fan.
Another added: “Tried this tonight with a tsp of laundry detergent and it worked.”
Others were excited to test the hack further, using it on the sofa and adding a dash of fabric condition for an extra scent boost.
A third wrote: “Wonderful idea…will do that later today…will add a bit more of Lenor on top.”
