TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee Police have shut down a portion of Jackson Bluff Road in Tallahassee after a vehicle struck a pedestrian there Friday night.

A sedan struck a pedestrian on the busy roadway just before 8 p.m., according to a TPD watch commander. Police have closed the street from Prince Street to Hayden Road, the lieutenant said.

The area is just off of West Gaines Street, only blocks from Doak Campbell Stadium and Florida State University. It’s unclear how long the roadway will stay closed, police said.

The pedestrian is being transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital, according to Tallahassee Police. Their injuries are serious, but details on their condition are still unclear.

At least five patrol cars responded to the crash Friday night. One officer stood in front of the Hayden Commons complex, which is advertised as a student townhome complex, and redirected traffic down Hayden Road. Others spoke to people on the sidewalk.

Some milled about near a sedan stopped in the roadway with its hazard lights on. The car appeared to have a cracked windshield, and some officers paused to examine debris in the street near the car.

Use caution in the area as police work the scene.
