Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman may no longer be a part of the Michigan State program, but his disdain for the Michigan Wolverines still runs deep.
This week, the Spartans and the Wolverines will score in their annual rivalry showdown for the Paul Bunyan trophy. And while Coleman is down in Tallahassee, FL, preparing for Florida State’s top-25 matchup against the Duke Blue Devils, the former spartan shared an NSFW image from his social media account supporting his former Michigan State brethren.
Coleman only played one game at Michigan State against Michigan. Still, he had an impressive showing, to say the least, all be it in a losing effort. Coleman, who spent two seasons playing for the Spartans, finished last year’s contest against Michigan with five receptions for 155 yards and one touchdown.
Michigan State and their fans would have loved to have Coleman run out on the field for them on Saturday against Michigan. Unfortunately, he will have his hands full in Week 8 as Florida State attempts to throttle one of the top-scoring defenses in the country in Duke. Still, Spartans country can take solace in the fact that one of their former players still holds a special level of ire towards what are the school’s biggest rivals.
Andy Staples likes Keon Coleman, Florida States line against Duke
One of the more intriguing games on the Week 8 slate is Duke vs. Florida State. Two teams tied atop the ACC standings, it’s likely to have a major impact on who plays in the conference title game now that divisions are gone.
The Seminoles are a 13.5-point favorite in that matchup, according to FanDuel. That half-point is significant when picking the game, though, according to Sports Illustrated and The Split Zone Duo’s Richard Johnson.
“I like Florida State here, especially -13.5,” Johnson told Andy Staples on Andy Staples On3. “Thankful for the hook on this.”
Saturday’s primetime showdown will be Duke’s first game since a tough loss to Notre Dame in the final minute two weeks ago. The Blue Devils are also likely without quarterback Riley Leonard, who suffered an injury on the last play of that loss. Leonard is a big part of the Blue Devil offense with his playmaking ability, which was apparent in Duke’s season-opening victory over Clemson.
His injury, and possible absence, is a big reason why Johnson is leaning Florida State to cover the two-touchdown spread.
