At 10:22 on January sixth, Lawrence Revell was sworn-in as Tallahassee’s subsequent Police Chief. The ceremony was held on the Jack McLean Group Heart, situated at 700 Paul Russell Highway on the southside of city not removed from the place Mr. Revell attended Rickards Excessive College.
Many native authorities dignitaries had been in attendance, together with Mayor John Dailey, Tallahassee Metropolis Commissioners, Leon County Commissioners and Sheriff Walt McNeil.
Revell, a Tallahassee native, has served with TPD for 28 years. He has earned two Medals of Bravery (2007 and 1997) and two Meritorious Service Awards (2008 and 1996).
The swearing-in started with feedback from Tallahassee Metropolis Supervisor Reese Goad, who oversaw the choice course of for a brand new police chief. Goad stated “a journey has come to a superb finish.” He described Revell as a “man of excessive character and religion.”
Interim Police Chief Steve Outlaw welcomed Revell to his new place talking briefly in regards to the significance of humility in profitable management.
Revell started his feedback to the gang of roughly 300 by saying that “God had a plan.” His remarks had been targeted on hope and the longer term.
Revell stated that at the present time brings hope for unity in our city via transparency and inclusivity and hope for the longer term. He vowed that the neighborhood would unite to finish violent crime and take again our neighborhoods.
“Our hope for unity is being realized and we should proceed to grab the momentum that has been began,” Revell stated.
Revell stated he sees a future the place officers view the neighborhood as household and mates. He stated his imaginative and prescient is to work tirelessly to convey the neighborhood collectively to combat violent crime.
Revell ended his remarks by thanking his household, mates, metropolis officers and Jesus Christ. He then invited all clergy in attendance to the rostrum. The clergy, led by Reverend R.B. Holmes, prayed over Chief Revell.
