Four-star defensive back Makari Vickers announced a list of schools he will focus his college recruitment on and the Oregon Ducks were included in the list. Vickers released his Top 8 on Saturday and included Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Texas, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Florida State.

The 6-foot-1 cornerback from John Paul II Catholic high school in Tallahassee, FL is rated as the 78th best prospect in the country by the 247Sports Composite, the fifth-best safety in the nation, and the 16th best player in the state of Florida.

Vickers has an official visit lined up with Oklahoma on June 3rd. In past interviews, Vickers has stated that he plans to wait to make his commitment until November or December of this year.

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, Vickers is the No. 78 overall prospect and No. 5 safety in the nation. He’s also the No. 16 best player in the state of Florida within the 2023 recruiting class.

Oregon currently holds one verbal commitment for the defensive backfield in the 2023 recruiting class and that’s Top 100 prospect Cole Martin out of the state of Arizona. The Ducks are looking to recruit
