I’m 66, raised Jehovah’s Witness – an ultra conservative religion – and went to a conservative Christian school in Christiansburg, VA. Our parents had Time Life books and huge table art books – common for that era that had photos of classical art, including statues of Venus and David. Conservatives then taught that the statues were created in a religious environment and that nudity in European art was not dirty or obscene as it celebrated God’s creation. We saw it in High school art class. We giggled but it was taught within the Christian art perspective while at the same time promoting God’s creation and that marriage was the highest expression of love between men and women. Taken as reported, these parents are creating more curiosity about why this is forbidden. This will backfire once they go to college. The kids will go into a much wider world, where mom is no longer flying the helicopter.

Classical Education in the Title of the school and they can't show art from the Renaissance Era and the interpretation of what the biblical characters looked like. 😂 I am so thankful my parents provided me with a quality education to make me competitive in the world and not a moron. It is ART and a master piece. I went to catholic school full of nuns only for girls and they would show us this as art, never was it seeing as anything else than master pieces of art! They are concerned because teachers don't want to stay there and it's difficult to find some that do. Mhhhhh I wonder why? 🤔 Seems to be such an ideal place to work. 🤦🏽‍♂️

So it appears the children were shown a naked Michelangelo statue. 97% of the children’s parents felt it was fine. But some far right nuts or about 3% complained. The principal was fired over this. How crazy can Florida get? I saw the statue when I was 6 years old. It didn’t scar me for life. If this is DeSantis vision of America, you can have him.

This channel seems to give a lot of coverage to this school in spite of the fact that a few of its parents are horrified by the exposure of their children's eyes to classical art.
I wonder if one of the parents has friends at this tv station…
