TAMPA, Fla. Man shot to death in yard of Tampa home
Officers found a man lying in a yard with “upper body trauma,” according to a release from the Tampa Police Department. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Witnesses told detectives that the suspect, 22-year-old Amani Berrios, was upset after alleging that his phone had been stolen. Berrios and the victim got into an argument after the victim told Berrios to quiet down.
Witnesses said the victim challenged Berrios to a fight. After the argument, officers said Berrios went into his home, got a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.
Berrios fled from the scene and went into a nearby Mobil gas station, where he asked the gas station clerk to call 911. Officers said Berrios identified himself to the dispatcher and was taken into custody a short time later.
There’s no sound.
