TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Roberts Elementary and Montord Middle School are both currently under lockout.

Leon County Schools Public Information Officer Chris Petley said the neighboring schools in the northeast part of the county went under lockdown just after 1:15 p.m. Friday. The move is a standard precaution by officials, he said.

Tallahassee Police said they are looking for a person in the area that they believe may pose a threat to themself. TPD Public Information Officer Heather Merritt said there is no threat to the public or the schools.

“This out of an abundance of caution,” the PIO said.

Under a lockout, no one may enter the campus, but classes continue. They’re different than lockdowns, in which classes are paused because no one may enter or exit campus facilities.
