A new 2022 redesign Mercedes-Benz AMG SL 63 convertible with a price tag of $199,785 at Capital Eurocars Mercedes-Benz is the most expensive vehicle on display in a Tallahassee showroom.
Sales Manager Angus Thomas says there have been about 25 prospective buyers for the car in the three months it has been available, and that Tallahassee has shown a high demand for AMG performance models when they become available at the dealership.
Thomas said this AMG SL 63 is the most expensive car ever featured in their inventory. The previous record price vehicle was an AMG SL 55 Roadster model at $158,650, which Thomas says sold quickly last year.
“Most buyers are more likely to pay cash in-full for these cars,” Thomas told the Tallahassee Democrat.
Capital Eurocars has served Tallahassee for 25 years and has other high-end manufacturer dealerships in the capital city, including Porsche and BMW.

The AMG performance model is set apart from other Mercedes-Benz vehicles by its handcrafted V8 engine and rear axle steering.
“As far as Mercedes-Benz is concerned, their attention to detail is at a higher level than other luxury brands,” certified client advisor Justin Harrison told the Tallahassee Democrat inside the dealership showroom at 3705 W. Tennessee St. “That’s what makes it a $200,000 car.”
While the model on display is a redesign from 2022, the car has never been owned before and is brand new.

The AMG model is in the color moonlight metallic white with a black Nappa leather interior. The convertible coupe seats five and has high-end safety, technology, and aesthetic features that Harrison says are incomparable.
“One of the most important features for people who are looking for high performance is the rear axle steering,” Harrison said. “It almost feels like you’re driving a spaceship.”
The AMG model was assembled in Germany with a handcrafted Biturbo V8 engine and a built-in advanced artificial intelligence system to assist drivers. The AMG 63 exclusive rear axle steering feature allows the driver to turn easier with the rear wheels automatically turning at a 5-degree angle.
The car, featuring the 577-horsepower engine, can reach a top speed of 200 miles per hour.
“Most consider that car to be a weekend vehicle,” Harrison said, “It is classified as a roadster.”
Harrison says Tallahassee drivers that come to see the car are looking for a casual fun ride with high performance. However, the car’s safety features also make it attractive for an everyday drive.
“With all the safety features that come with the car, it ultimately makes it easier to drive,” Harrison said of its performance.
The car comes equipped with a predictive feature which will automatically set on the emergency brake when sensors in the rear predict a collision to minimize damage to the car. Other safety features include automatic braking, lane assist and collision assist.
The AMG performance model is set apart from other Mercedes-Benz vehicles, which is important to high-end shoppers.
“When we get them, they sell pretty quick, and it’s a toy basically,” Thomas said. “But it’s a $200,000 car so they have to like everything about the car. It has to suit them and how they feel in the car.”
With all Mercedes-Benz AMG purchases, buyers gain access to the AMG private lounge at the Mercedes-Benz factory in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, where owners have digital VIP access to exclusive content and events. Drivers can also test AMG performance, traction, suspension, and speed on the on-road and off-road test tracks at the factory with certified driving instructors.
