TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man was arrested on Friday for the death of a 4-year-old girl that took place in 2023, according to Tallahassee Police.
Lyndarious Strange Jr., 24, faces a first-degree murder while engaged in aggravated child abuse charge, police say.
On June 1, 2023, Tallahassee Police, Tallahassee Fire Department and Leon County EMS responded to a home in the 400 block of West Georgia Street due to a child experiencing a medical emergency, according to the police.

The child unfortunately was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a local hospital, per the police.
On June 11, 2023, Tallahassee Police say investigation revealed that the child suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of being beaten by her caretaker, Strange Jr.
According to police, the child died from medical issues stemming from an incident that took place two years earlier. “The child was in a medically fragile state as a direct result of the prior abuse,” police say.
The child’s death was then ruled as a homicide.
After an extensive investigation and consultation was conducted, detectives obtained warrants to charge Strange Jr. He was then located in Hawkinsville, Georgia by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to police, and arrested on January 19.
