Not long after midnight, officers were called to the area of East Bloxham Street and South Calhoun Street regarding shots fired, according to a TPD incident alert.

They found a 17-year-old boy with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his foot. He was transported to a local hospital to be treated, according to TPD.

“Officers collected shell casings and witness statements, and the investigation is currently open and active,” TPD said. “No arrests have been made at this time.”

The Democrat has inquired with TPD if the victim was the intended target of the shooting or if he was an innocent bystander, but did not immediately hear back.
