Tallahassee residents have a reason to celebrate this week as the capital city was named one of the top mid-size cities in the nation.

HGTV recently published a list of “The 20 best mid-size cities in the United States” based on each city’s outdoor activities, public artworks, and sporting events.

Tallahassee was one of three Florida cities on HGTV’s list. Tampa, along with Port St. Lucie, which was also one of the top places for population growth, were the other two best mid-size cities in Florida.

The Home & Garden television network says that according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the nonpartisan think tank, the Milken Institute, newcomers are flocking to these cities with populations from 100,000 to 500,000 that are adding residents at a steady clip.

Fans fill the lawn at Adderley Amphitheater as they eagerly wait for Willie Nelson to perform Saturday, March 4, 2023.

“Tallahassee is growing, moving up in the ranks as a top mid-size city, appealing for a feel that is both urban and suburban,” HGTV reported in a CNN broadcast.

Visitors and residents of the capital of the Sunshine State can partake in its nightlife, museums, and public destinations, like Cascades Park and Lake Ella.
