  1. If Florida deems it a historic site the owner won't be able to change the property ever. He would own it, make sure the land is landscaped properly, the Headstones are in good shape and pay taxes based on the value each year. Then if he wants to sell it to the city they could give him a profit based on a few times over the 10 year U.S. Bond.

  2. Thank you for this update. This has been on my heart and mind so much. I think news channel 8 needs to call Governor Desantis office on air and ask HIM directly what kind of state funds can his office provide to help preserve this historic landmark. The city can't foot the bill themself but that shouldn't be a problem. Surely there are some kind of funds out there somewhere he can pull to come in alongside the city and make up the difference. PLEASE keep us posted. And make Desantis do his job. Do your job Goober!!!! Oh that's right your book touring. Yeah that's most important. NOT.

  3. The developer is using slave bones and personal connections to them by their descendants as collateral. That’s a 4D, Hunter Biden style sleaze move right there. I almost have to applaud his utter disregard for cultural mores and public sentiment

No, I think I’ll continue detesting him

  4. Land grabs by property developers all over Florida & this is a surprise? The shocking part is the city not bothering to send a rep to the auction even if it wasn’t prepared to bid as high as $18K, what message does that send not even bothering to be in attendance? A complete lack of disrespect and no effort to even appear to show advocacy for the deceased & their families IMO. Very sad situation.
