Two minors were arrested in connection to an April shooting that happened along the 3500 block of Roberts Avenue that left one person seriously injured. TPD said that the teens were arrested on April 19 and were taken into custody charged with attempted first-degree murder. The 14-year-old is being charged with attempted first-degree murder, shooting at, within, or into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a minor. The 16-year-old could be facing similar charges.

After former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum was found not guilty of lying to the FBI, members of the jury have come forward and released a statement highlighting division within the jury room. The jurors’ statement indicates the majority favored acquitting Gillum and Lettman-Hicks on all charges. They even noted one member of the jury had their mind made up before the trial began. They were also dismayed at how one juror was able to make posts on social media about the trial and remain on the jury.

FLORIDA NEWS

Florida’s congressional delegation will be having a special meeting related to Florida’s agricultural issues. The bipartisan gathering of lawmakers takes place as Congress develops a new farm bill, legislation typically passed every five years to address the specific needs of U.S. farms. Of the groups testifying to Florida’s delegation will be the Florida Farm Bureau, Feeding Florida, and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida.

Florida State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia will now be heading up Gov. Ron DeSantis’ state-level political committee, Friends of Ron DeSantis. The committee has $85.8 million in cash on hand as of April 30, according to campaign finance records. Ingoglia is a former House member who was elected to the Senate in 2022. He was also the Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida from 2015 to 2019, helping the party raise money and set out a strategy resulting in GOP victories in nearly every statewide election during that time.

Florida State senior pitcher Kathryn Sandercock won her third ACC Pitcher of the Week award of the season on Tuesday morning. This is the fourth time a Seminole has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Week as Makenna Reid won the award on Apr. 25, and Sandercock won the award on Mar. 28 and Apr. 11.
