TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Gray News) – A 58-year-old woman is accused of murdering her mother and cutting her heart out, according to authorities.
Tallahassee Police said Earleen Tucker was wandering the neighborhood naked when officers arrived Wednesday. Officers attempted to get Tucker back into her home to get dressed, but she resisted.
While officers were on the scene, Tucker allegedly confessed to police that she had committed a ‘grievous’ crime. She eventually let police in the townhome she shared with her mother, WCTV reported.
As officers walked in, they found an ‘apparent organ’ in the hallway.
While attempting to find her clothes, officers also found Tucker’s mother lying face-up on the bed. There appeared to be a large wound in the center of her chest, which detectives allege looked to be from the removal of part of her heart, according to WCTV.
Investigators later determined the ‘organ’ in the front hallway was part of a heart. She told detectives she needed “to end it” and that the “saga” would continue until she was behind bars.
Authorities said Tucker “mostly rambled” when they tried to interview her. She eventually told detectives she murdered her mom.
“I murdered my mom in that house,” said Tucker. “She was mean to me but I didn’t care. I loved her black color but she didn’t love mine.”
Police also said she allegedly referenced removing and looking at her mother’s heart.
Tucker’s daughter told police she suspected her mother suffered from schizophrenia.
WCTV reported that Tucker was hospitalized more than three decades ago for mental health issues. After a break, she was hospitalized again in 2009 for similar issues.
Her first appearance was Friday morning and she pleaded not guilty. The court has also ordered the appointment of an expert to evaluate her competency for trial.
