Police said Monday that arrest warrants have been issued in connection with a riverfront brawl in Alabama’s capital that drew nationwide attention after video showed a group of white people pummeling a Black riverboat worker, an exchange that sparked a massive fight.

Major Saba Coleman of the Montgomery Police Department said there are currently four active warrants and more could be issued after authorities review more footage. Police said Sunday that several people were detained and charges are pending.

Video circulating on social media showed a large melee Saturday that appeared to begin when a crew member of a city-operated riverboat tried to get a pontoon boat moved that was blocking the riverboat from docking.

  1. The co-captain doesn’t have legal authority to act as law enforcement to manipulate someone’s boat. The captain should not have sent him into the potentially dangerous risky situation.

  2. If you watch this videos, see how crazy pigs jomp on the black people and calmly they go and arrest the white racist nasty animals. You ignorant Americans think pigs are not racist?? Look the way they set everyone compared to how they treat minorities

  3. the attackers were being asked to move for 40 minutes and ignored them… then a group of men attacked a single man and continued to kick him even when he was on the ground… why even talk about "signage"? should there be signs that say, "do not knock a man to the ground and continue attacking him" / "please move when repeatedly asked by the riverboat captain" / "do not assault the captains and crews" – when he fell the ground and the group continued to attack, I was afraid for his life… I thought this would be another video of a man being attacked to death… the people who ran and swam to his defence probably saw and felt the same… if we do nothing will they kill him? the charges for team pontoon are too light…

  4. Those white guys where icing a slap on the wrist by police and DA, if it was the other way around they would charge all the black people with a felony hate crime, it is time that any white person attacks a black person it should be a hate crime a more serious crime, those guys will do the same thing over because they know they will get away with a lesser crime

  5. U gotta catch Me with the folding chair lmaoooo we got they ass real good they gone know better next time…..this anit 1864😂😂🤣🤣😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣we in 2023 baby 😈😈😈😈😈😈

  6. The co-captain doesn’t have Security Authority and or/arrest authority (authorized thru state certification and able to cause a detention of movement) or have law enforcement authority.
The co-captain initially or started the incident when he confronted AND blocked the first person’s freedom of movement. This is a “civil rights violation” without having state authorized authority.
To have arrest or detention authority a person has to take a state required 8-hour certified security course to have authorized authority or be within law enforcement. The co-captain then later grabbed a woman, this is “physical assault” of a person not committing a crime (civil rights violation). This is why the co-captain is eventually arrested.
If the co- captain commanded anyone to do something without law enforcement or security authority, that is “unauthorized verbal commands by a person by illegally using their position to influence to another”. That is, if he did try to influence a person to do something, that can be construed as intimidation. The co-captain should have left the situation to port security and not be the one who started the incident by approaching the person on the dock and blocking his way and commanding him to do something without the person’ civil rights being respected (who was walking away) and without authorized law enforcement or security state authorized authority.

  7. To my chair brother,if you see this..start a go fund me. You don't know how many of us have your back. Salute to the Captain, the kid who 🏊‍♂️ to help, the guys who were skipping 😂. I appreciate you all helping the Captain, words can't express my love.

  8. Some of the journalist are asking if there are signs up informing boaters that they cannot park there as if they are trying to find a defense for the people that started the fight!!! Anyway, the employee informed them that they cannot dock there, therefore there is no Legal defense for the defendants!!!!!!(

  9. THEY’RE NOT LOOKING FOR MORE EVIDENCE, THEY’RE LOOKING FOR A LOOPHOLE TO LET THOSE WHITE PEOPLE GET AWAY WITH THIS TERRIBLE CRIME. THE VIDEOS CLEARLY SHOW WHO STARTED IT AND WHY IT ESCALATED!! THIS COULD’VE BEEN A MURDER IF THOSE BLACK BYSTANDERS HADN’T INTERVENED. IF THIS WAS BLACK FOLKS JUMPING A WHITE SECURITY GUARD EVERYONE WOULD BE IN JAIL! THAT POLICE DEPARTMENT IS TRASH!!!

  10. One would think that guests to the community would follow the instructions of the regular operators. We can understand that the lack of signage initiated the parking, however once being told by an official to move so that tour boat could park, the family should have moved without incident. They could call the dock to complain about the lack of signage. There was no good reason to be violent. The chief and mayor handled the press conference very well Looks like they are charging and seek to charge the appropriate people while supporting the victims and those did reasonable actions to defend the victims.

  11. They attacked two people, the co-captin and the sixteen year old trying to help his captain and co-worker. He was punched in the stomach for helping. Then the other sixteen year old jumped in the waters to help them both! All risking their lives! Wow!!!

  12. 🪑🪑YES GET THE FBI IN HERE THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY JUSTIFIED ON THE BEHALF OF THE PPL WHO JUMPED IN TO HELP THAT HELPLESS CO CAPTON. REMEMBER IN ALABAMA LAW YOU CANNOT BE CHARGED FOR COMING IN DEFENSE OF A PERSON BEING JUMPED OR IN DISTRESS 💪🏽🤫
