  1. Sanibel Islands, Captiva Island, Cape Coral and Fort Myers was such a beautiful place to visit. This so absolutely heart breaking. My prayers are with everyone effected by Ian. I have family in Port Charlotte they are ok but lots of damage but we are thankful they are ok. God Bless you all and all that are there helping.

  2. I pray for the leaders.of Florida that they will learn from this event. That they will see this as a fight against nature. That they will rebuild sparingly and with loads of consideration for nature. Nature is diffinately speaking. I pray they hear the forces of nature that are speaking clearly. We.need to do something about how we affect the 🌎. We need to try to get back to respecting nature

  3. To all our American neighbors in FL, the entire nation is grieving with you. There are no words that can comfort you while you must pick through, throw away and prepare to rebuild not just your homes, but your very lives and livelihoods. Continue to lean on one another and when necessary, lean on and utilize the groups that are coming in to help. But never, ever give up. You have gone through worse in building your life and you can do this. Get a agent that rep YOU and your claim in dealing with the insurance & gov flood (if you’re lucky enough to have it). HANG IN THERE BECAUSE YOU WILL COME BACK STRONGER AND BETTER THAN EVER. The USA is 110% behind you!! Numerous classmates from college work for Samaritan’s Purse. I wish my foresight would have been as keen as theirs, so I could experience the humbling yet astounding remarkable feeling knowing every day I was working to better the lives of so many and do so while serving God and spreading his holy name. Hang in there friends!!! Maybe I’ll get to see some of you one of these days — a smiling middle aged lady with a broom or rake in her hand waving with a smile😊

  4. How much debris, and toxic debris, went out into the ocean?

In a way ..we humans should be more responsible.
We know that natural disaster level weather occurs. Perhaps we should not allow the use of ocean contaminating materials for building anything within a mile or two of the shorelines?

Then when storms come, we evacuate, let the storm sweep away everything, and rebuild. No damage done to the environment.

  5. Shouldn't have to been happening..
    Cat 4 storm= GET OUT!!
What purpose, other than creating problems for others,, just what or why were they there???
Your not going to save anything, GET OUT…

  6. Sanibel had better and (most important) newer construction than Fort Myers Beach thats why damage is not that bad, the new building codes (designed after Hurricane Andrew) work like reporter pointed @ 26:14 . Main issue is the causeway apparently "man made islands" are not a match for a hurricane

  7. The man in the helicopter is confused about Sanibel and Captiva. The causeway is to and from Sanibel. Captiva is at the end of Sanibel and dead ends there. I grew up in this area off the island. So many memories there and my husband used to work on the island. We loved watching the dolphins especially at sunset on the causeway. This is a nightmare.

  8. I am sorry but taking a chance to ride a storm like Ian especially on a island is almost suicide! I want to first say Thank God that these people made it alive but from the reporting coming out from that area a lot of these people's neighbors, friends and relatives di not make it and paid the ultimate price. I get that it's your home with all your most cherished belongings but all that can be replaced a human cannot. I pray that people that live in Hurricane prone areas see this footage and come to the conclusion if a storm like this comes are way in the future don't hesitate just
    leave!

  9. Building any home on a beach or nearby is like building a house on a piece of melting ice…. Eventually the water will get you. None of these houses should be rebuilt. It will just happen again eventually. West Coast of Florida was just riding a lucky streak for 60 years and now they will probably get several of these over the next few years. No insurance company will want to write policies for these areas, and with labor and material shortages it will take 10 years to rebuild the same anyway. TOO many people living TOO close to the water…

  10. Just what DeSantis and his team need a visit from Biden. You know when family or company says they are coming, and your home or family is completely dealing with more significant things. Babysitting and stopping to please the mainstream news. Feeling for the weight on DeSantis's shoulders while his focus is to save Floridians
