Authorities throughout southwest Florida will hit the road on Thursday in communities battered by the massive Hurricane Ian to assess damage, clear debris and respond to calls for help as millions of Floridians remain sheltered in place.

Ian, now weakened to a tropical storm, made landfall near Cayo Costa, Florida, on Wednesday afternoon, bringing powerful Category 4 hurricane-strength winds, rain and surge to the doorsteps of millions. Many coastal communities remained under several inches of flood water on Thursday and many more were left without electricity.

  1. I hope for you that Biden helps you like he helps Ukraine with tens and tens of billions in military aid! But I doubt it, because according to the latest news Biden will only come with 60 million, look for the error

  2. In Pasco County Friday, It was sunny and cool with light wind. A little messy here and there, but otherwise it is like nothing happened. I ate lunch at Hungry Harry's in Land O Lakes, it was packed.

  3. Both my brother and sister can only text and call – Verizon and ? Xfinity is offering everyone free cell service. 100 portable cell towers are heading down

  4. In Cape Coral, north of Viscaya BLVD is fresh water. So more wind and rain damage than flooding. Mom lives near there and she has some water damage probably from rain blowing through plumbing vents on the roof, her screened porch is gone and her Hurricane Andrew rated garage door bowed in and broke. No power expected for weeks. After Charlie in 2004, there was houses damaged and tree/debris piles for several years afterwards.
