Oreck Orbiter Area Rug Cleaning

I’ve been wondering why soak the area rugs? Can you not do them where they are in a house the way you do regular carpet? Or is just extra cleaning because they can be moved? Just curious. Thanks for your videos you have been a huge help for me. Trying to start my own buisnes because I work way to much for a company that I really do not like.
