Tallahassee police are investigating two back-to-back homicides Monday night.
The Tallahassee Police Department launched its first homicide investigation after finding a man dead outside of a home in the Bond neighborhood.
Police were called to the shooting in the 1600 block of Keith Street just before 6 p.m.
“When officers arrived on scene, they discovered an adult male victim deceased in a front yard,” a TPD spokesperson wrote in an online incident alert.
Two and a half hours later and five miles away, TPD officers began a second homicide investigation after a fatal shooting in northwest Tallahassee.
At 8:30 p.m., officers were called to the Camden Place Apartments, located at 2933 Mission Road.
“When officers arrived on scene, they discovered an adult male victim deceased inside of an apartment,” TPD wrote in an incident alert.
Tallahassee shooting incidents appear unrelated at this time
No other details were provided about either case and both are “active and ongoing,” according to TPD.
TPD spokesperson Heather Merritt said the shootings do not appear to be connected.
“At this time, there is no indication that these incidents are related. However, we are very early into each of these investigations,” Merritt said in a text. “Our Homicide Unit is actively following up on all leads that are currently available.”
When asked if there are any suspects currently, Merritt wrote that “suspect information is not currently available for release.”

2023: A bloody year of sobering statistics in Tallahassee
The shootings were another grim milestone in a year that has generated a string of sobering statistics, many from the summer when the city endured a surge in shootings.
According to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence, the summer spike in crime included three separate double homicides, a mass shooting, three murders in a single 24-hour span and five accidental shootings — three of them fatal — in a single month.
The latest incidents of gun violence brings the shooting death toll to 23 this year in the capital city and county. According to the Democrat’s count, 71 people have been injured in at least 83 serious shootings.
The shooting breaks about a two-and-a-half week calm. The last shooting with injuries occurred on Nov. 29 when a man was injured in a broad daylight shooting at a gas station, the city’s second shooting in a 24-hour span. On Nov. 28, two women were injured in a broad-daylight shooting in west Tallahassee when they were “forcefully entering the victim’s home” and flashing a gun during an argument, according to police.
