For almost three a long time, the Tallahassee Downtown Market has been a Saturday custom within the Capital Metropolis between spring and fall. The favored attraction was marking that anniversary this previous weekend.
The musical duo of Invoice McGuire and Paul Doyle supplied the soundtrack for the Market’s anniversary celebration. Since its inception, the Market has been below the oversight of Tallahassee’s Downtown Enchancment Authority, which is headed by Government Director Elizabeth Emmanuel.
“It means so much to our neighborhood to be right here for 29 years – the Tallahassee Downtown Market – and it means so much to our distributors who assist native. These distributors come right here each Saturday morning, arrange and tear down.”
One vendor who’s been doing that just about for the reason that market started is Calvary, Georgia Farmer John Corker. He’s been bringing his fresh-grown produce to the Downtown Market for a quarter-of-a-century. Promoting to clients that he calls “mates.”
“I make mates each time I come to the market and making mates on a regular basis. Of us come and so they come again to see me once more. And that’s what I like!”
And Farmer John – even on the sprightly age of 84, mentioned he’s trying ahead to creating much more mates on the Tallahassee Downtown Market.
