Due to FSU winding down it’s pursuit of high school prospects, I decided to keep the most wanted recruits list to just five players. Here are some honorable mentions of prospects that barely missed this list:

Ohio State 4-star QB commit Brock Glenn:

As reported on Noles247, Florida State quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz stopped by Glenn’s high school while out on the recruiting trail during FSU’s bye week. One of the biggest drawbacks for FSU in Glenn’s initial recruitment was the perceived uncertainty about Norvell’s long-term staying power as the head coach at FSU. Well, with a 5-3 record to this point, and a back-half of a football season that looks pretty favorable for a strong finish, Norvell’s job security is not really in question. That could give the Seminoles some late ammunition in Glenn’s recruitment.

Miami 3-star QB Emory Williams:

InsideTheU reported within the last few weeks that Florida State had offered Williams a scholarship back on September 2. Williams is a semi-local prospect — out of Milton, Florida — and is the second quarterback in Miami’s recruiting class this cycle. Williams has some ties to the FSU program and the ‘Noles are looking for two quarterbacks in the ’23 class — whether that’s through high school or the transfer portal. Williams could be an option moving foward.

4-star OL DJ Chester:

While it looks like Chester — who announced that he plans to make his college decision on November 3 — is set to commit to another program, I don’t expect the Seminoles to give up in his recruitment moving forward. Remember, Chester has not used his official visit to Tallahassee yet and the ‘Noles could try to push for him to use that later on in the month of December to get one last crack at things before Chester puts pen to paper.

LSU 4-star WR commit Jalen Brown:

Brown is a longtime FSU recruit who the Seminoles are still in contact with. Nothing has been publicly set up yet but the two sides are working on scheduling a visit for Brown to be in Tallahassee again sometime in the near future. Until that happens, I won’t include him on the most wanted list.

ATH Reggie Akles:

Akles — a JUCO prospect — is a newer name in FSU circles but that’s not because he’s without talent. Akles has displayed some elite athleticism on film. Akles says he is officially visiting FSU during the month of December. He could be a solid option for the ‘Noles at defensive back — or several other positions because he’s pretty versatile.

OL Elijah Philippe:

Another JUCO prospect of note is Philippe — a 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle. Philippe is another prospect who is expected to officially visit FSU in the month of December and could be a solid option for the Seminoles to bolster their offensive line class in 2023.
