Why did Floridians wake up to an early-morning emergency alert?

News channel 8 the ones that are coming at 4:50 they should come on TV

Why would they have to test it at the highest threat level? A test run is not high threat, it's the lowest possible threat for everything but mental stability.

I never remember the tests and I haven’t been to one but at school I have.

I noticed nobody’s talking about the other 573 things that wake up a person during a single night’s sleep. Pet jumping on bed. Partner snoring. Baby crying. Sister-in-law wet dream while sleeping next to your wife. Chimes on porch. Train going by. Dog in neighborhood. Neighbor closing door after second shift, etc………………. But, noooooooo, It’s this one thing that did it. Shut the fuck up people.

Who was responsible for that. This is not funny but demonstrates how stupid people have become. They should not be fired but we need a class action lawsuit against this company.

As much as annoying as it is, I can understand why it's needed. Like say, a state of emergency, or an incoming tornado. My phone was on Do Not Disturb when I got it.

1 test alert early morning was good. I am not ready to wake up and RUN. My emergency plan was 1 flashlight, caned spam.

I have "state and local tests" disabled, but it seems like they broadcasted it outside of those parameters. Interesting wake up call, but an ounce of prevention is worth it.

You know I thought I heard an alert like this early this morning but thought I was dreaming 😂 I must've shut it off and went back to sleep SMH. I thought I was having a weird dream and it really happened.

There's the Do Not Disturb feature on Android phones that I use which is why I never heard this alert. I saw it on my phone screen when I woke up at my usual time though.

What a stupid time to do a test of the emergency system. My area does one each Wednesday at 11am, unless there is severe weather.

I already had my alerts shut off (I like to live dangerously – lol). But, my cat did jump on my head about that time, so maybe she got the alert. 😹

I have my phone set on "Do Not Disturb" so the alert showed up at 7:30am when my alarm went off. Sounds like they need to rethink the timing of the test.
