Marie Pietrowski

Died: August 2, 2023 in Ottawa, IL.
Marie Pietrowski (Drag), 75, of Deland, FL. and LaSalle passed away peacefully at La Salle County Nursing Home under hospice care due to complications from a stroke on Aug.2, 2023.
Marie Pietrowski (Drag) was born in Peru to Walter and Lottie (Glowacz) Drag. She was the oldest of three children, attended St. Valentine’s Catholic School, and graduated from La Salle-Peru Township High School. After graduation she married Leonard Pietrowski Jr., and raised two daughters that she loved with her whole heart.
Marie pursued a career with Illinois Bell Telephone Company, the News Tribune, was the manager of the Earring Tree, and ended her career as a Special Education Paraprofessional for which she was employed for over 15 years. After many years of living in IL., she relocated to the Sunshine State of FL. and retired with the Volusia County School District.
Marie loved crafting, traveling, walking on the beach, camping, fishing, and spending time with her family. She loved animals of all kinds. She had a heart of gold, was loved by all who knew her, and will be truly missed.
Marie was an active member of her community and served as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s Association. Her family nickname was “Gloria Vanderbilt.” She had a passion for fashion and living her best dressed life.
Marie is survived by her husband of 56 years Leonard Pietrowski Jr. of La Salle, daughters Lori Winger of Tallahassee, FL., Lisa Pietrowski of Deland, FL., and grandson Camden Winger of Tallahassee, FL., brother Gary Drag of La Salle, and many brother- in laws, sister- in laws, nephews, and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her father Walter Drag, mother Lottie (Glowacz) Drag, and brother Walter Drag Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her favorite charity. A celebration of life will be held at Burgess Funeral Home in La Salle on Friday August 25th from 4-6pm. A Scripture service will be at 6pm. Fr. Tom Otto Pastor of LaSalle Catholic Parishes will officiate.
