  1. Thankfully I rarely ever get his type of situation as my pricing tends to filter this out. Although rare If i came across this I would politely pass as clearly this is way beyond any normal expectation and clearly is a very abused carpet. In my experience the customer in situations like this is completely aware that their carpet is far beyond any "normal" clean and no matter who cleans it and no matter what method the results will be less than stellar. I learned long ago not to try to be the hero and I know that there are limits to what I am able to do. I have restored many carpets that were in terrible condition but occasionally I have walked away because I know it is a lost cause. If a truck mount was used on that carpet it would do alright likely but it would resoil rapidly for sure. Terribly abused carpet, frustrating to attempt to clean and not worth the time in my opinion.

  2. 1) you might need to raise your prices, man. If you’re getting a lot of these, then you’re too accessible. Your ideal clients don’t live like that.
    2) at the very least, set up a restoration fee. They know their carpets are awful. Post it on your website making that plain.

  3. Hey Paul, these carpets were a disaster. It’s good you set the expectations first and price before because at best those will be 70-80% better at best. A 10inch CRB would make faster work for a prescrub.
